...SOLD...
All Tango amp in white slim chassis...
and fed with good looking and good sounding tubes.
Sylvania VT25 bright light
Magic eye for fun
Philips 5R4GYS is a perfect companion for the Sylvania VT25
Sylvania VT25A soft glow...
Tests
The amp puts out a reasonable 5.8 Watt before clipping ( 6.5 Vrms/8 ohm) and THD @ 1000Hz do not exceed 2.60% , not that bad. Second and third harmonics are barely visible.
With VT25A I got 6.9 Watt and same distortion figure. Nice little amp.
Listening...
I have used this amp for years and it is an all around music maker with lots of punch and refinement. Compared to my MC1/60 I would say the VT25 PP is at its best on vocals, small jazz and classical formations, guitar and piano. It is an amp for people seeking for naturalness and accuracy in music transcription.
Some CD's and LP's that I like to listen
Bonjour,

Cordialement
Fred
Good day and congratulations for the various equipment you have made.
ReplyDeleteI ask you, kindly, a clarification on the srpp of 5687, I see that from pin 12 of the tango transformer it connects to the cathode of the low triode, so I was wondering why it is not connected directly to ground?
One last question ..... does the replacement of the 5687 with the e182cc entail any modification on the polarization and / or any resistors?
Thank you in advance and thank you for all the information it offers available to all fans,
Sincerely,
Andrea
Hi Andrea, thanks for your interest. To answer your questions 1- the SRPP AC signal flows from upper triode cathode to the lower triode cathode one through the load. It is a better idea not to have the cathode decoupling cap in the signal. 2- the E182CC is an excellent tube sonically, imho with better balance than the 5687. To get the very best of it, use 510 ohm resistors instead. Vg will be about 5.5V, gain 20 and Zout 270 ohm.
DeleteHope this helps.

Fred
